Ice, rest, nsaids: If you have an acute injury with an acl tear, you want to get the swelling down both for comfort and to perform a reconstructive procedure if it will be done. Ice, rest and nsaids are the best ways to do this. It usually takes 2-3 weeks unless the fluid is aspirated.
