Yes: In fact thyroid hormone dysfunction is one of the causes of unintentional weight gain for some people. Also being depressed or having anxiety can lead to weight gain. In women other hormone imbalance conditions such as pcos also result in weight gain. For more specific info for you, talk to your doctor.

Absolutely!: Our homrones are what maintain our internal balance called homeostasis. If there are issues with hormone imbalance or even normal flucuations we can get hungry - even after a full meal or we may not metabolize the food we eat normally leading to increased weight & water retention. If you think this is going on see your regular md or ob/gyn for some simple blood tests to test hormone levels.
