You can: Meniscus is notessential for movement of the knee. Studies have shown that over decades people with no meniscus have an increased chance of developing arthritis of the knee. That is way we try to repair meniscus tears now in younger people if it is the right type of torn meniscus (peripheral) or do a partial meniscectomy.
