Valium is a long-: Acting benzodiazepine (anxiety reliever/ muscle relaxer/seizure stopper/etc). Its half-life (amount of time for 1/2 to be eliminated) is 20–100 hours (much longer in chronic users) but the half-life for its main active metabolite desmethyldiazepam is 36-200 hours that's almost 10 days for 1/2 to be eliminated. Figure on at least 6 or more half-lives for it to be undetectable in typical drug screen.
