Boyfriend is having severe shoulder and arm pain that keeps him up at nite. Sits up and eventually goes away. What could this be?

Many things: He could have a frozen shoulder, a rotator cuff tear, bursitis or even a neck issue. Have him see a shoulder specialist, often a good physical exam can give him a diagnosis and then a treatment plan.
