A member asked:

I was diagnosed a while back & asked 2 wear rubber insoles.want 2 know if taking calcium supplements would lead 2 extra growth of my calcanial spur?

Dr. Jay Bayer answered

Spur: That spur is there in reaction to over stretching of plantar ligament attached just inside calcaneus. The becomes inflammed at attachment( enthesiopathies ) then calcified literally keep ligament from pulling off bone. Besides insoles there are stretching exercises, sometimes injections, rarely surgery. Consult physical therapist or dr.
