Many: Asymptomatic hypothyroidism is a condition in which the person has abnormal thyroid levels indicating an underactive thyroid but no symptoms. The causes of this condition are similar to those that cause symptomatic hypothyroidism: genetics, iodine deficiency, autoimmune disease, age, certain medications, etc. But sometimes it cannot be determined what the cause really is.
