What causes diagnosed type 2 hypothyroidism?

Type 2???: Not sure what you mean by type 2 hypothyroidism. Generally, hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH is high, indicating that the pituitary gland thinks the thyroid levels are too low. If you mean secondary hypothyroidism, then the pituitary gland can't make high levels of tsh. In severe cases, both TSH & T4 levels are low. Milder cases where TSH is normal/t4 is low or vice versa are more difficult.
