What can cause hypothyroidism?

Autoimmune, surgery: The most common cause is autoimmune thyroid disease, that is, the body makes antibodies against the thyroid. Thyroid surgery can cause it too. So can radiation therapy to the neck. Meds like amiodarone and some chemo can, too.
