Sharp back pain: There could be a multitude of reasons you are experiencing sharp, random back pain. The most common reason is a simple strain or sprain of your muscles/tendons/ligaments. However, the pain could potentially be coming from the spine itself including pain from your discs, facet joints, and/or vertebra. The good news is that the vast majority of back pain is usually benign and self-limiting.
