How is her posture?: Even young children can have soft tissue pain. This is a simple thing to treat and treatment should not take very long. If the problem does not resolve, then further evaluation would be warranted. Has she had physical therapy with posture training? The focus should be on positioning her shoulders back and her head up. If you feel this is not the issue, try consulting a neurologist.

Peds neck pain: Persistent pain in kids is not very common. Especially if persisting for a year or more. Normal x-rays don't really rule much in or out, since developmentally the peds spine is filled with growing bone and cartilage. Inflammatory conditions like juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, lyme's, etc should be considered. Nice about jra is generally self limited but needs diagnosis to prevent eye problems.
