Drain+shot of knee cause a cartilage tear? md suggests mri since knee is still painful/swollen at 3 weeks. pa did drain/shot. i have to pay for mri.

Yes: If you have pseudo gout it can cause pain and swelling and an MRI is not needed but you can also have a meniscus tear- may need arthroscopic surgery but results are not as good in those with pseudogout
