A member asked:

What's the vitamin(s) requirement for pregnant gastric bypass patients? adding a pre-natal on top of the vitamins i already take seems too much. surgery was over five years ago. all blood work ok.

Go back: To your bariatric surgeon to discuss and get a dietician and your OB physician talking. We don't have good data on this yet and it takes a team effort. Malnutrition is our main concern.

Family practice: Check with your dr first but what you are taking is probably ok. Make sure you are taking folic acid.

Vitamins: Well, it's a lot to take, but that is the recommendation. It doesn't matter how far out you are from surgery. We still recommend that you take your prenatal vitamins on top of what you take for weight loss surgery.
