86 year old male blood platelets count was 91 a year ago. this recent platelet count is 86. patient unable to go out due to pandemic and has been not active will vitamin b12 help to increase the platelet. ?

B12 deficiency can rarely cause isolated low platelet count and B12 supplement works if patient truly have low B12 level. He can take B12 supplement +/- folic acid as a therapeutic trial without testing but I do not see much different in his numbers 91 last year and 86 this year though.

Only if it is the only reason for his mildly decreased platelet count. Blood tests should always be evaluated in clinical context and his doc will be in the best position to weigh in.
