No: Tonsillectomy will not help. Viral tonsillitis is a very common infection.Prevention is best by making sure your child doesn't drink from other friend's drinking bottles and of course frequent handwashing is important. Tonsillectomy is recommended only if his tonsils are very enlarged and causing sleep apnea.
