? more tests: Pharyngitis(throat infections) in children are usually viral and run their course without antibiotics in a few days. I'm assuming your child was checked for strep throat as that is a common bacteria that will respond to antibiotics One question is why your child received antibiotics if Dr felt it was viral. If fever is persisting and child is ill it might be time for a blood count and culture
