Ankle edema: Unless have congestive heart failure or impaired renal function, it is common to get dependent edema. Should go away in morning and return end day. Shift fluids since veins have no pump but activity to return blood from arteries back to heart. Have blood pressure and heart and lipids checked for underlying medical problems. Support hose usefull.

Having your legs : Dependent without the musculature working can be a cause but salt intake, venous incompetence, high blood pressure etc can all be contributory as well.
