Teething: When a wisdom tooth begins to come in, the area surrounding it can swell, creating pain to open the mouth fully. Taking Ibuprofen can help reduce the swelling/discomfort and call your dentist to have the area looked at as soon as possible so it doesn't get worse.

See your dentist: Could be infection around the wisdom tooth, especially if the gum in the area is painful. You could also be having TMJ problems causing limited opening of your jaw. Best to see a dentist soon.
