Will getting my dental bridge be very painful?

Depends: Depends on the health of the teeth, the bone and the gum tissue. The healthier everything is the less issues you will have will the preparation, fabrication and placement of a dental bridge.

Not necessarily: Both removable or cemented bridges are fabricated and worn comfortably

No: A bridge is nothing more than 2 or more teeth that are crowned w a missing tooth or teeth attached .Preparing the retaining teeth is done w local anesthesia and not painful. An impression is taken after the teeth are prepared and a provisional, or temporary bridge is made and cemented while the final, or permanent bridge is fabricated in the lab.

Very variable: Much depends on the skill and experience of the dentist.

Probably not: I assume you are talking about a fixed bridge which means that teeth are prepared in front and in back of a space. The dentist can get you numb so there will no pain, however, usually, you might be a little sensitive but it should be bearable. If you want to make sure there is no pain, have your dentist numb you. If you are talking about a removable appliance, there is no pain whatsoever.

No but: If the teeth that will support the bridge are without decay or large restorations an implant is probably better if there is sufficient bone.

No, get implant!: With so much advancement in the area of dental implant, bridge is becoming less and less applicable. Bridge, though usually is not painful, is more inferior to implant since the bridge abument tooth roots usually are not parallel, thus result in poor and uneven force distribution, ultimately damaging the nerve of weaker abutment tooth. Implant, when done properly, is painless and last very long.
