Control the bacteria: Gum disease is a bacterial infection. You have to be able to deliver a medication that can control the bacteria that cause the disease. Tooth brushing, flossing are just not enough for most people and deep cleaning leaves all of the types of bacteria in the pocket. Look into the perio protect method. It has been shown (j dent res 2007) to kill 99.98% of the bacteria that cause gum disease.
