Yes: Itching in the mouth after ingesting certain fruits and vegetables often is due to oral allergy syndrome. People with allergy to tree pollens frequently also have allergies to proteins in fruits. The itching is due to histamine released when the fruit comes in contact with the allergic antibody ige. Avoidance of the fruits causing this is the best strategy. Most reactions respond to benadryl (diphenhydramine).
