Many years: Pre- med, 4yrs heavy science load medical school, 4 yrs internship, 1 yr residency 2-3 yrs fellowship 1-2 yrs don't be dissuaded by the length of time if being a surgeon is your passion. Each stage of this process can be rewarding and fun, even though its hard work.After internship, the length of residency depends on what type of surgery . Best of luck!
