A member asked:

My clearblue digital ovulation test says pcos may affect the results. how? and does that mean it may cause false positives/negatives?

LH: This ovulation test probably detects lh in the urine. Women with pcos often already have very elevated levels of this hormone. Therefore, it is possible to have a false + result when using an ovulation test which measures lh.

False positive: In pcos, the hormone lh may be elevated. This is the same hormone detected by the ovulation kit giving the false positive result. Since ovulation is not regular in pcos, it is difficult to detect the lh ovulation surge.
