PCOS ?'s: The hormone detected by "ovulation testing" is luteinizing hormone (LH). PCOS is characterized by no or infrequent ovulation, and LH is produced higher than average on a prolonged basis, instead of a sharp "peak" lasting less than 24 hours. This higher than normal level of LH may show as "positive" on the ovulation kit, but does not signify true ovulation. Ask your gyn about PCOS.
