A member asked:

Would an abdominal or lung ct show back problems? been having terrible back spasms lately and wondering if it would have picked up a tumor back there

Maybe: If the tumor was in the vicinity of your lungs, and was large enough to been seen, it may be detected. However if the scan is not dedicated to look for a tumor, it may miss it (and remember, any tumor in the back is extrememly rare to begin with).

See below: Chances are your symptom is not from a spine tumor. Check with your doctor for treatment. The thoracic spine is included in the chest ct & the lumbar spine is included in abdominal ct. An obvious mass destroying the spine would have been seen on ct. A lesion the spinal cord may not be visible.
