It is not unusual: Depending on the nature and degree of the tbi, it is possible to have the symptoms that your describe. With a tbi, the temporal bones are frequently affected. In fact, many times there are fractures (ie. Skull base fractures). In this region are the vestibular (balance)and auditory (nerves). Injury to the temporal bones can lead to injury to these nerves, which can result in the ringing.
