Fluttering: You probably are having short groups of extra heart beats. A random ECG could miss these. They are generally benign. They are worth checking out with your doctor. We have tests that can show them and other possibilities are also present.

Palpitations: You have perfectly described "palpitations." this is due to an irregularity of your heart rhythm which tends to be sporadic. A prolonged recording of your heart rhythm (at least 24 hours but may require 30 days) will be necessary to detect the arrhythmia. An echocardiogram will determine if your heart is structurally and physiologically normal. Blood work will determine if you have triggers.
