Not Long: Have you asked about taking an NSAID like Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen)? They can eliminate almost all of the pain if you start them early enough. Avoid smoking or drinking through a straw as this can cause a "dry socket" where the hole from the tooth doesn't close up. Warm saline rinses can also help if ok with your dentist just don't get too vigorous and stir things up. Pain should be gone in 3 or 4 days..

Pain p/ tooth pulled: After a tooth is pulled, presuming no infection, pain should only last 3-4 days. This can be easily managed with an anti-inflammatory like motrin, advil (ibuprofen) or similar. Your dentist or oral surgeon will likely recommend or prescribe their preferred medication to help manage any pain from the extraction.

It can last, ideas..: Discomfort after a tooth extraction can last for some time, depending on the severity of the situation & the difficulty of the extraction. Aleve, (naproxen) advil, Motrin or for more holistic patients arnica can help reduce swelling & pain. Warm salt water rinse can help. Your doctor can prescription narcotics, for symptoms if necessary. Call your dentist for help with pain, a dry socket is possible.
