Get good advice: I'm not a psychiatrist, but I am wondering whether you have read "pop" claims about adjusting blood serotonin levels and thus your husband's behavior and mood by diet or supplements. I believe that mainstream medicine considers these interventions to be non-evidence-based. Your family physician can help both your relationship and your husband's life-skills, life-situation and possible need for rx.

Medical check up: Ur husband would benefit from a medical check up to first rule out any medical condition that may trigger depressive sx. Once medically cleared, they are many options to successfully treat depression including antidepressant meds, talk therapy, tms, etc. Ur husband could discuss them with his doc. To feel "down" can happen to anyone and hopefully ur husband will call his doc soon. Best wishes!
