My 6 year old have ridges and bumps on her nails, is she deficient in something?

Doubtful: Vertical nail ridges are fairly common and nothing to worry about. They extend from the cuticle to the tip of the nail. Vertical nail ridges often become more numerous or prominent with age, possibly due to variations in cell turnover within the nail. If your 6 yr old's fingernails change color or develop horizontal nail ridges, consult your pediatrician or dermatologist.

No: Palpable ridges or bumps are most commonly due to nail trauma, often in the matrix which is where the nail is forming. The matrix is deep to the skin and between the cuticle and the last finger joint.
