See Periodontist: Could be gum disease, over brushing, teeth too far forward etc. This will not self-correct. Ask your general dentist to refer you to the best periodontist (gum specialist) in your area. Don't put it off...It can only get worse. And if you have gum recession, you most probably already have some bone loss, even if not yet severe enough to allow mobility.

See dentist: There are different reasons why gum may receed, but if you get past what is called attached gingivae you have lost the basic gum tissue support for your tooth and the seal around the neck of the tooth is gone. Bacteria can migrate directly to the root from the side of the tooth above the gum tissue.

Sonicare toothbrush: If recession is due to overbrushing or vigorous brushing, the best toothbrush is a sonicare. Also avoid abrasive toothpastes. Stick with the old tried and true Fluoride toothpastes. See a dentist to discover the cause of the recession.

See a dentist: You have gum recession. This can occur for several reasons, including brushing too hard, grinding your teeth, and gum disease. See a dentist to find out what might be causing the recession and get it treated. Once the cause is eliminated or controlled, you may be able to cover the exposed roots with gingival grafting.

Good you noticed it: When was your last dental checkup? These things don't happen overnight. Don't be scared, just see a dentist to have your situation evaluated and find out what needs to be done to get you back on track. Some recession is often better than loose teeth, swollen gums, periodontal disease, cavities, etc. It's a good thing that you noticed it, so you can prevent bigger problems down the road.
