A member asked:

If you had a ekg six months ago with normal results and have continually had chest discomfort could you be having heart attack?

EKG: The ekg is a 10 second snap shot in time. It does not tell us anything about future risk for heart disease. An ECG can give you an indication that there may be thickening of the heart muscle, prior heart attack/ scar or arrhythmias etc. If you are having exertional chest pain you need to seek immediate medical care.

Chest pain: Heart attack pain usually comes and goes, particularly with exercise. Constant chest pain is usually something else. However any chest pain you should see a md and let them decide.
