NO 5% permethrin: Scabies is treated with a topical scabicide such as 5% permethrin. It is applied over the entire body from the chin to the toes and left on for 8 to 14 hours before washing off. The treatment is repeated 1 week later. After your first Permethrin treatment is completed you can try some calamine lotion and some solarcaine for symptomatic relief. Epsom salts will do nothing.
