A member asked:

Does mri scan show any muscle damage or nerve or tendon related problems for issues such as back pain? thanks

Not usually: Mri will show muscles changes if the nerve to a muscle has been severely damaged. However, this is not common. The nerves themselves can sometimes swell if they are being pinched by a disc but this too is not commonly seen on mri.

Sometimes: Usually if there is overt tears or edema suggesting acute process you will see this on mri. Otherwise it is hard to see chronic issues as there typically is not much fluid/edema in these areas.
