A member asked:

If a new asymmetrical density found on my mamo turns out to be cancer will it be considered early stage or more advanced?

Need more info.: A density on a mammogram, if it is cancer, often is early stage, which is the whole point of screening mammograms. But if cancer, the mammogram alone isn't enough to know the stage of disease. The cancer needs to be removed, and if appropriate, lymph nodes under the arm need to be sampled to know if there has been spread.

It Depends.: You need a thorough work up including biopsy and staging to find out. Good luck! hopefully it is in the earliest stage...

Too Early To Say: I know you must be very anxious about your situation, but it's too early to really determine what stage it would be. Mammograms really only image your breasts, and your stage would depend on whether cancer has spread to your lymph nodes or beyond. Further tests would be necessary to make that determination.
