Likely infections: Many youngsters have red throats and red ears from infections (both virus and bacteria germs). The eczema infection is likely to be from a bacteria germ. The doctor should have decided whether s/he thinks that one or both of the infections requires treatment with antibiotics. Having fever often pushes doctors to prescribe antibiotics, especially in younger children..
