IV Drug Use: I v drug use can cause many problems and one problem included is to ignore other problems that would normally be noticed in the normal state of mind. Paonful nails with blood under them is termed hematoma. That is a buildup of blood under the nail causing pressure and the pressure causes pain. Hematoma is often a sign of trauma to the nail and that trauma causes the mail to avulse.

Toe nails : The answer to the question is no. Even though there are many side effects that IV drugs can cause, blood underneath the toe nails is related to acute or chronic sheer force trauma. You may way to change your socks and shoes and you may want to seek out a medical professional such as a podiatrist.

Maybe: Sometimes IV drug users develop bacterial infections of the heart. These can cause blood clots from which small particles break off and end up in the small blood vessels of the toes. These, in turn, cause splinter hemorrhages which show up under the nails. It is uncommon for them to fall off. Either way, life would be better without the IV drugs.
