You should see doc: who performed procedure to make sure toenail growing in normally. Pain can be from scar tissue, but I am always concerned about infection, trauma and improperly growing nail

Cuticle/scar tissue: The cuticle around the nail can sometimes enlarge and thicken as well as scar tissue can form and cause such a skin condition.
