Anxiety Type?: The causes of anxiety are many. From early hunger, to fear, to unknown causes. So each type of anxiety has it's own form of treatment. If hungry eat, fears benzodiazepines are useful, for long term deep anxiety the ssri type medications such as prozac, paxil, zoloft, celexa, and Lexapro are good. There are other meds such as buspar, (buspirone) effexor, or Cymbalta to treat anxiety. And psychotherapy too!

Depends . . .: The best solution for anxiety is dealing w/ the source while also developing coping skills (including stress management skills, exercise, better sleep, reducing stimulants). Some anxiety is unavoidable but too much is destructive. Short term med solutions include benzo's. Longer term meds include ssri antidepressants. Buspar (buspirone) also helps some. Talk w/ doc about these options.
