Several, not best: There are several types of anxiety & as a result several approaches are needed. Without drugs means primarily cbt (cognitive behavioral therapy) & desensitization therapy. There are a few natural but quite weak herbal remedies. Meditation, acupuncture & acupressure are useful non drug anxiety treatments as well. Significant anxiety often needs meds to get started and at times to stay well also.

CBT: Cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) can be an effective non-drug treatment for anxiety. It involves learning what triggers anxiety and how to manage anxiety symptoms. Effective tools are taught/used. Medication can help, as well, if the anxiety symptoms are so severe that they initially get in the way of participating in cbt.
