Can death occur from an enlarged thyroid?

Almost never: It is theoretically possible, but the size of the thyroid alone is very, very rarely a cause of death - if however, it enlarges due to cancer, that is totally different. It's the cancer than can kill you, not the size of the thyroid alone.

Unlikely: It can only do this if it's a cancer that is growing inward.
