See specialist: This may take time to resolve. I would first recommend a course of mild topical anti-inflammatory agents. Chemical peels and bleaching agents may help be the inflammation is controlled.

Hang in there: Most commonly, the hyperpigmentation is not permanent. It slowly resolves. Bleaching creams, with prescription strength hydroquinone, or other lightening agents, are helpful. Stay out of the sun. Do not traumatize the skin further.
