A member asked:

What causes choking on liquids and wheezing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aspiration: You could have severe reflux disease (reflux of stomach acid into the lungs) which can make it difficult to swallow and cause wheezing. You may also have a stricture of the esophagus (a narrowing). Both of these diseases can be evaluated with a barium swallow study.
