Chest pain: Angina is typically described as chest discomfort or shortness of breath brought on by exertion and relieved by rest heart failure is usually associated with fatigue and shortness of breath both with exercise and sometimes with laying down or at night.

Very different: Heart failure is the inability of the heart to meet the metabolic demands of the body (either the heart is abnormal or the body's demands are excessive). Angina is discomfort (usually in the chest) that occurs due to insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle.
