Cause/effect: It's certainly possible the same injury that caused the sprain is also responsible for an ankle fracture. A stress fracture, by definition, does not happen from one event, but rather from prolonged stress to the part. An examination and gait evaluation by a podiatrist may shed some light on the cause of your injuries.
