Possibly: Following thyroidectomy, it is important to make sure that the parathyroid glands were not damaged, as this can result in low calcium levels. Low calcium will cause muscle cramps. You also should be on thyroid hormone, as low thyroid levels will cause muscle problems as well.

Unlikely: Unlikely related to thyroidectomy. Make sure you are on thyroid replacement and your level is normal. Low calcium can occur after thyroidectomy. Get a level check.
