Penicillin Allergy: If you have an allergy to Keflex that means you cannot take penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. There are other classes of antibiotics like sulfa, tetracyclines, macrolides, lingcosamides and others which you may not be allergic to.

Don't be scared!: You could have had a severe, true, allergic reaction to keflex; but that doesn't mean that you are going to to be allergic to other antibiotic classes. Be careful of the penicillins, because they are related to the cephalosporins, like keflex. You should be ok taking the zithromax, erythromycin, sulfa, or Cipro (ciprofloxacin) families of antibiotics; depending on what infection you need to treat.

Antibiotics: I understand your concern. Some people have sensitivities or true allergies to certain medications, and since antibiotics are so frequently prescribed we often see patients with multiple allergies. If Keflex caused you a severe allergy, you should avoid other cephalosporins. There is potential cross-reactivity with penicillins. Regarding other antibiotics you should discuss with your doctor.
