A member asked:

Should i be concerned about the side effects of zyvox (linezolid)?

Not really : You clearly have an infection which is difficult to treat and is resistant to many other antibiotics. You probably have no choice but to take the zyvox (linezolid).

Yes: Zyvox (linezolid) has very serious side effects but if you discuss it with your doctor and use it as directed, you can mitigate the effects. If your doctor prescribed it, it can save your life from infection but he/she will also monitor for the side effects (e.g. Blood count).

No: It is fine to be vigilant but I have used the drug in many patients with minimal problems. At the en of the day you are probably on the drug because of a serious bacterial infection. You must weigh the risk against all the benefits.
