If needed: Category c, so benefits must outweigh risks for the patient. If treating pneumonia or a serious infection with a resistent bacteria, it very well may be needed.

Category C: C:use with caution if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies not available or neither animal nor human studies done. I will not prescribe if other available agents useful. Not good for breast feeding mother. Again needs to see benefits vs risk.
