150 mg/dL or lower: Triglycerides (tg) are the energy packets (delivering fatty acids) and storage lipids. Nih defines high triglycerides as 500+ mg/dl, but clinically we pay attention if tg are over 200 mg/dl. Optimally less than 150 mg/dl. Control of weight, restriction of alcohol & carbs, exercise, and treatment of diabetes & low thyroid important. Use of Niacin and fibrates & possibly omega fish oils helpful.

< 150 mg/dL: Normally, your triglyceride level should be < 150 mg/dl.

Less than 100: While triglycerides 150 or higher certainly elevated, a triglyceride level less than 100 would be considered ideal.

Normal is not normal: Officially, normal triglyceride (tg) levels for men and women are less than 150 mg/dl. However, based on good observational data from the framingham study, it looks like risk for heart disease in women seems to increase with tg levels in the 80-90mg/dl range, and for men somewhere between 120-150. Hence "normal" probably means average. There are no treatment targets for tg's. See your doctor.
